Psoriasis is a skin disorder that is caused by the immune system sending faulty signals to the skin cells to rapidly grow. There are five types of psoriasis: guttate, inverse, pustular, erythrodermic and the most common, silvery-white plaques usually on the elbows and knees.
The cause of psoriasis is not fully understood. On hypothesis is that psoriasis is mediated by the immune system. Skin cells grow rapidly because they are stimulated in some way by the immune system.
Psoriasis can be exacerbated by stress, infections, changes in season, certain medications, bowel changes, alcohol consumption, smoking and cosmetics.
There are a number of different treatment options for psoriasis. Typically topical agents are used for mild disease, phototherapy for moderate disease, and systemic agents for severe disease. Psoriasis symptoms can be improved with in diet periods, suggesting a link with the bowels (click here).
Select dietary supplements and herbs also may improve psoriasis symptoms. Interestingly, hypnotherapy may also be effective.

Dear Dr. Massey,
Please accept my sincere thanks -- not for what he gave me but for what you took away...most of my pain and lack of flexibility. Your dedication and devotion to healing is truly admirable. After exhausting all other and use of treatment, you were my whole of last resort. I'm glad we found each other.
